Why choose APPI Power with Gofly PPG?
What is APPI Power – and Why Does It Matter?
When choosing a paramotor school, it’s important to look beyond simply learning how to get off the ground. Good training should build safe, confident and capable pilots, with a structured approach that develops the right skills from day one.
At GoFly PPG, based in Hereford, UK, we have chosen to deliver our training through the APPI Power training system, combining internationally structured training with the professional, safety-focused approach that defines our school.
What is APPI Power?
APPI Power is the powered-paragliding branch of APPI (Association of Paragliding Pilots and Instructors), providing a structured training and progression system for paramotor pilots and instructors.
Rather than training being based simply on completing a certain number of days or flights, the APPI approach is focused on developing and demonstrating the knowledge, practical skills, decision-making and safety awareness required at each stage of a pilot’s progression.
For us, that structured approach is extremely important.
Paramotoring might look simple from the outside — a wing, a motor and an open field — but becoming a genuinely competent pilot requires much more.
Students need to understand wing control, ground handling, launching and landing techniques, weather and meteorology, equipment, airspace, flight planning, emergency procedures, decision-making and risk management.
Our objective isn't simply to get you airborne.
It's to teach you to become a pilot.
Why GoFly PPG Chose APPI Power
We believe professional instruction should follow a recognised structure and have clearly defined standards.
APPI Power gives us a framework through which students can develop progressively, rather than rushing through training simply to achieve their first solo flight.
At GoFly PPG, we combine that structure with our own extremely high standards of instruction.
Our team includes instructors with military and extensive aviation backgrounds, bringing a strong culture of preparation, discipline, professionalism and safety into our training environment.
Lead instructor Jordan Price served for seven years in the British Army, including an operational tour in Afghanistan, and has completed more than 2,000 skydives, previously holding skydiving instructor qualifications. His wider flying experience includes paragliding, paramotoring, multiple SIV courses and speed flying.
That experience has shaped a simple philosophy at GoFly PPG:
Safety first. Standards always. Progress at the right pace.
Training Built Around the Individual
Not everybody learns at the same speed.
One student may pick up ground handling extremely quickly but require more time with theory. Another may understand meteorology immediately but need additional practice developing consistent launch technique.
That's why our training is focused heavily on the individual pilot.
Where appropriate, we provide one-to-one training, allowing our instructors to concentrate on your progression and identify areas that need additional work.
There is no benefit in rushing someone into the air before they're ready.
We would rather spend additional time building your skills on the ground so that when the moment comes for your first flight, you are properly prepared for it.
More Than Just Your First Flight
Your first solo paramotor flight is an unforgettable achievement — but it should be viewed as the beginning of your development as a pilot, not the end of your training.
Good pilots continue learning throughout their flying careers.
Through the APPI Power progression structure and the wider experience available through GoFly PPG, we want our students to have a pathway that can take them from their very first introduction to paramotoring through to becoming experienced, knowledgeable and confident pilots.
We also offer Paragliding-to-PPG conversion training, continued pilot development and access to suitable specialist instructors for more advanced training such as SIV.
And once you've developed the skills and experience, there is an entire world to explore.
GoFly PPG also organises paramotor adventures and flying trips around the world, allowing pilots to take the skills they've developed in Hereford and experience powered flight in incredible locations.
Why Train with an APPI Power School?
Choosing structured training means choosing an approach where progression, competency and safety matter.
At GoFly PPG, we don't want to produce pilots who simply know how to launch a paramotor.
We want to produce pilots who understand when to fly, when not to fly, how to recognise changing conditions, how to manage risk and how to make good decisions independently.
Because ultimately, the most important piece of equipment you take into the air isn't your wing or your paramotor.
It's your judgement.
